An Astronaut as Brazilian Minister.

June 24, 2019

weXelerate loves opening its doors for visitors. On Friday June 21st we welcomed a delegation of 11 people under the command of Marcos Pontes, Brazilian minister for science, technology, innovation and communications. During their visit, the delegation got a lot of information on the hub in general as well as got to know the ecosystem better.

Marcos Pontes emphasized that ” The development of innovation is one of the most important priorities within Brazil. Worldwide we are ranked on an outstanding number 13 for the most scientific publications. But in the ranking of innovation we are only number 64 in global comparison. We will learn a lot from weXelerate as something wonderful has been built up here. This was the reason for our visit today, we want to get to know this successful project from the inside.”

The Brazilian minister hopes for better collaboration between Brazilian and Austrian corporations. Brazil is the most important economy within Southern America with more than 200 million people. As first astronaut in 2006, Marcos Pontes has become very popular. “We live together in one blue space vehicle without borders. Therefore, global collaboration goes without saying.”, he said, winking.

Awi Lifshitz, managing director at weXelerate, explained that “weXelerate has built a unique innovation ecosystem, which helps companies to become competitive and realize digitalisation projects quicker and more targeted. But not only Austrian companies should profit from that. Therefore, the invitation of the Brazilian minister and his delegation is not only a great moment for us, but also  important in terms of our strategy to become more international .”
