Get in the Ring

May 9, 2019

Great ideas

At the beginning of any startup adventure stand amazing, new and innovative ideas. So far, so good. But how do you let the public know that there is a new project around? Pitch events are a great way to share your story. There are quite many of those, but one that stands out is the pitch event held by the foundation “Get in the Ring”. This foundation has come up with an interesting concept for pitching new ideas. True to their name, they have a setup similar to a boxing ring, where people actually get in a ring to pitch. The startups are furthermore divided into three categories: lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight. There is one winner from each category at the end.

Get in the Ring

On May 8th “Get in the Ring” hosted a pre-round for the global “Get in the Ring” meetup pitch event, which will take place in mid June in Berlin. They invited startups from the current batch to participate. Nine weXelerate startups took part in this event and found themselves in gripping pitching sessions. It was hard for the jury to decide as all the pitched projects were really interesting. In the end the lucky winner was fiskaly. This startup specialises in a cloud-based solution for electronic recording and archiving of business processes and transactions.

The jury

As mentioned above, a jury decided on the winner. One member of this jury was Anthony „Tonee“ Ndungu, who is founder and CIO of Kytabu Inc. He was in the hub not only as a jury member, but followed an invitation form the Austrian Ministry for External Affairs and visited the hub with people from 13 different countries. According to Ulrike Ritzinger, who organised the hub tour for the ministry “the weXelerate hub is unique in Austria. It is much more than a co-working space as it offers various services to the corporate partners.”

Congratulations to fiskaly on the great pitch and on winning the pitch competition. Alongside other international startups, fiskaly will pitch in mid June in Berlin. Good luck! Special thanks to Giedrė Birmontaitė for bringing Get In The Ring to weXelerate and for Ulrike Ritzinger for organizing the trip for the guests of the Austrian Ministry for External Affairs to the hub.
