Today weXelerate open its doors to investors and the public. And a great number of people followed our invitation.
For the Investor’s Day we opened our doors in the morning and started the day off with a breakfast for the investors and the startups. The rest of the morning was spent with pitches of all batch 4 startups as well as 4 alumni startups pitching in front of the investors. When they liked what they saw, investor’s could arrange 1-to-1 meetings for the afternoon for the startup-investor-speed-dating session. As last time, these sessions were a great success. Johannes Ferner from the startup Fiskaly emphasised that “the speed-dating sessions give startups and investors the opportunity to see in 15 minutes if there is a match.” He then added that “for startups it is really helpful to mingle and network with as many investors as possible. Their questions and interest in particular topics shows what the future might look like.”
From the investors’ point of view this day offers manifold opportunities. Georg Weber from primeCROWD has been part of the Investor’s Day for the second time. For him “it was interesting that the quality of the pitches showed who of the startups was frequently at the hub taking part in the offered pitch trainings and workshops. Furthermore, it is always interesting what other investors ask so you get an idea about the interest on the market.” For Kristof Székely from Lead Ventures, today’s event was “close to heart as we are looking for later stage startups.” According to Kristof, “the hub is the perfect place for hosting an event for investors. All the rooms are close together, which makes it easier to connect and network.” Jasmina Henniova from Pioneers praised “the better quality of the pitches compared to the one’s at the Investor’s Day in January 2019.” She also said that “it was interesting to see how the startups have developed in the past few weeks. Some of them pitched at an event to win tickets to the Pioneer’s flagship event. I have to say, they have come a far way since.”
The evening ended in the 5 finalists giving pitch sessions in front of almost 200 people at the weXelerate
The night was opened with inspiring keynote speeches from Claudia Winkler, CO-Founder & CEO Goood Network, and Georg Hauer, CEO N26. The five finalists
pitched their ideas to the audience. Besides our air-conditioned headquarters and free drinks, the guests were entertained by Hanna Kristall and her music.
All 5 pitches were exciting and focussed on interesting topics. This made it hard for the jury – Stefan Kreppel (Palfinger), Hubert Wackerle (itsv), Maggie Childs (Metropole) and Markus Raunig (Austrian Startups) – to make a decision. But they did. 4tiitoo won the jury’s choice award. The public voted for zerolens. We congratulate the winners and all the participants.
