Meet the Mieters: Wüstenrot

May 22, 2019

Welcome to the hub.

Our corporate partner Wüstenrot has been part of the ecosystem from the very beginning. Only recently they moved into a space at the hub.

“Relocating our office to weXelerate has been a next step to integrate ourselves even more in this thriving ecosystem,” says Nina Tamerl, Head of Innovation & Marketing Wüstenrot. For the corporate, weXelerate is a natural fit. The company already has tremendous experience with innovation. “It is in our DNA. Wüstenrot has 90 years of tradition. Innovation has been accompanying us throughout our entire journey,” elaborates Nina. That is why the corporate is keen to integrate new ideas from startups, tech companies and other corporates.

Working within this ecosystem offers the opportunity for Wüstenrot to market service and product innovations much faster. Moreover, it enables the company to provide faster and better integrated customer services along the entire insurance and banking value chain. “With weXelerate we have the unique and invaluable opportunity to adapt to a more cross-industry thinking,” adds Nina.

A leading collaborator and mentor for our weX family!

Wüstenrot is convinced that the weXelerate hub is not just a self-fulfilling prophecy. “To push open innovation even further, we established a so-called playroom at our weX-office,” explains Katharina Sauer, responsible for Innovation Management. “We not only use this space to come up with and develop our own innovations. The ultimate goal is that startups and corporates use it to collaborate and innovate together.

Moreover, the corporate appreciates the opportunity to give startups within the weXelerate ecosystem a lot back in exchange. “As mentors, we offer them our longtime experience in the field,” explains Katharina. “And as a long-standing and successful corporate we can provide a large customer base and a solid database for rapid PoCs.”

To give back to the weX community, the corporate invited selected guests as well as all tenants to the grand opening of their new office yesterday. “For us, the hub is such a great opportunity, because here we are feeling a bit like a startup ourselves,” continues Elvira Sinkovits, responsible for Digital Development & Data Science, when talking about the reasons for relocating to the hub earlier this year. “We simply love it here. We have been feeling welcome and wanted from the very first day.” A small yet meaningful example immediately comes to Elvira’s mind, when thinking about the spirit of the hub. “The delivery of our office furniture was delayed when we moved into our space. After mentioning this to weXelerate in a meeting, the team pulled some strings in the background and after just one hour all of a sudden our new office was clad out with furniture,” smiles Elvira.

For the Wüstenrot team, this symbolizes perfectly why business at the hub is so easy going for innovators: fast-thinking, hands-on-mentality and rapid solutions as foundation of success.

Again, welcome to our hub, Wüstenrot! We are proud to have been realizing many successful projects already and are looking forward to many more in the future.
